And, as I said I would be re-blogging on Sundays, I give you the first of my Science Fiction Today posts, back when the sequester was looming and I was thinking about the implications for us vacationing right afterwards. The Sunday Re-Blog – Epic Music Moments in Movies

Hello reader!

Part of the continued existence of this Blog is as a place for me to consider blogging as a whole, and to interact with it in terms of lessons learned and lessons I can share with you. Hopefully we learn something about blogging on the way, right? So my plan is to, once a week, re-blog either something I have written, or something I’ve found out in the Blogosphere.

Since I’m currently in the middle of an experiment with my last post, I thought I would re-blog a fun list post I put together over on my other blog, Comparative Geeks. This one is about letting the music and scenes do the talking for you in a movie, rather than having to fill the space with dialog or exposition. Something About This Worked

So, after thinking about all the various things that are working in my blogging right now, that got me thinking about my most successful post on Comparative Geeks. It just keeps getting found on the Internet, and keeps getting views. I mentioned it in my last post. And it had such an odd name.

Character Studies Truncated.

I mean, what I was referencing was my previous post, in which I had laid out a plan to explore each D&D alignment and painstakingly go through and place various fictional characters within them. Which seems tedious and pointless once you start looking for this sort of stuff on the Internet… Because there’s, like, a lot of that out there.

Time for a Rebuild

So I have been doing most of my blogging on my other blog, Comparative Geeks. And honestly, the schedule we have set up for ourselves has been great – we post three times a week each, my wife and I, and so I am writing much more often than I had been. Which feels at least a bit like the answer to the question of why a writer should have a blog.

So I could just write this one off and walk away, I suppose. But that’s not what I’m thinking. Because now that Comparative Geeks has traction and is off and running, it’s time to come back here. Because people are finding Comparative Geeks. With search engines, through WordPress, through Facebook and Twitter and Google+… the things I have learned have come together to a solid 20-30 views a day. Obviously, we would like to see that reach more, but that means more thinking and research and experimenting needs to happen… and that’s what this blog is for.
