Hello! My name is David Cox, and I am the new blogger for the Lake Onondaga Vineyard. I have a Masters from the Syracuse University School of Information Studies, which has me well versed and ready to do some blogging.
But what do I know about wine?
It’s a good question, and I am glad you asked. The answer is that I am no connoisseur, but that I definitely enjoy it. So I have two main goals in the blog: to let you know specific things about the Lake Onondaga Vineyards, and then to give you insight into my learning process about wines and vineyards. Allow me to tell you a little more about each of these things.
The Lake Onondaga Vineyard
The Lake Onondaga Vineyard is only a few years old, so don’t feel like you missed something by not knowing it was here. That means we are only now reaching a point where we have some wines that have aged to a point where the vintners feel they are ready to be sold.
We have opened the Lake Onondaga Vineyard Tasting Room, where you can come and try our selection, and tour the vineyard. We also have the Vintner’s Bed and Breakfast next to us, where you can come and enjoy a weekend getaway with plenty of wine and little to worry about. I can often be found at one of these local haunts, come stop by to say hi!
If you know what you want and don’t need to taste it, or already have, we also have an online store where you can buy our wines. Or better yet, join our wine club, and get a case delivered to you every six months. There are also discounts online, in person, and even at the B&B in our wine club.
I’ll be keeping you up to date with specials, events at the vineyard, and what the upcoming wine club wines will be. Get all the Lake Onondaga Vineyard news right here on our blog!
Wines of the World tour
If you stop by our tasting room, you will doubtless notice our growing collection of empty bottles from around the country and around the world. We have a commitment, as a new vineyard to learn everything we can about what makes a good wine, and what wines are good. As such, we travel to other vineyards, and have been trying their wines, and learning the craft.
The best part of my job is, I get to come along and learn along-side! I will be passing on this knowledge to you, and you can watch how we grow and improve. And when you plan on getting some wine, you’ll know the right stuff to get. Or better yet, when you’re planning a vacation, you’ll know where to find the best vineyards nearby!
I have a lot I want to talk about with these trips, but I’ll leave it there for now. Watch out for more on Wines of World in the weeks and months to come!
This is another case of, sadly, a school assignment, and not a real thing. Thought I would love being a professional blogger, especially about wine. Check out my intro to the assignment here:
