Recommended Blogging Platforms

So what blogging platforms would I recommend right now for a couple of different bloggers? Let’s think…
1. A giant coffee retailer looking to connect with customers.
I liked David Karp’s story about how brand’s (companies like the one being considered here) can use Tumblr to connect with people. Liking or commenting, as a brand, on someone’s posts could really embed the company with their clientele. For a coffee chain wanting to do something really different from what might be expected, this seems like the right platform.
2. A photographer interested in making their work go viral.
So here I am mentioning Tumblr again… But that seems like the place. Having your photography tumbled in with other photography would be great. However… Looking now, I don’t see a specifically “photography” tumble. So in some ways, a photographer could end up in a more specific place, like “black and white” or “art.” This could help connect more readily with a community interested in your specific content.
3. A Syracuse Crunch hockey blogger looking to write daily.
Given that in my last post I said that WordPress was what I have always heard recommended as the place to start a blog, this would be my recommendation here. The support is there to keep it working on a daily basis, and the easy tools for adding the posts. For creating that much written content, the tools exist to import from word processing, or there are ways to save drafts as needed. Because let’s face it, one of the biggest problems with writing that much and that often is having something refresh or close and lose everything. Happens a lot on BlackBoard – I am kind of really happy to be in WordPress right now.
